How often do we get to say that?

Thank you from Amazon Watch!

Dear Mark,

Hundreds of you gathered at Amazon Watch’s annual luncheon in San Francisco on Monday to celebrate good news, meet our indigenous partners from Sarayaku Ecuador, and be inspired by good work. With your help, indigenous communities in the Amazon have been winning strategic victories and preventing the destruction of millions of acres of pristine rainforest.

  1. Sarayaku victory! – Inter-American Court of Human Rights ruled in favor of indigenous people in Ecuador.
  2. Talisman out of Peru! – Talisman Energy announced it would withdraw from the heart of indigenous Achuar territory in the Peruvian Amazon.
  3. ConocoPhillips out of Peru! – CP also announced it would withdraw due to increased pressure.
  4. Chevron’s US Supreme Court appeal DENIED! – And now $200 million of their assets in Ecuador are about to be seized, and their bank accounts there are frozen.

These victories wouldn’t be possible without your continued support. A gift in support of Amazon Watch will keep us strong as we work to meet our annual budget goals so we can continue to fight for the Amazon.

And, as you can see in the video message from Amazon Watch campaigner Maira Irigaray in Brazil, we must continue to fight because of threats like the Belo Monte Dam.

Please help us meet our $100,000 goal. We raised $70,000 at the luncheon and have $30,000 still to go. Make an investment in our future here.

For today and for future generations,
